- Prepare 2 servings Freshly Cooked Short Grain Rice
- Prepare 1 Spring Onion *finely chopped
- Get Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix)
- Prepare <Sauce>
- Prepare 1/2 cup Water
- Get 1/4 teaspoon Dashi Powder
- Make ready 1 teaspoon Sugar
- Get 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- Get 1 tablespoon Mirin
Tempura is about preparation and speed, heat, light, and air. Remember this and you will succeed and make beautiful, crispy, light and healthy fried seafood, yes, healthy. - Turn it over a few times. When it is cooked and golden, place them on a rack and drain the oil. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
- Half fill a bowl with Freshly Cooked Rice and cover it with the Tempura. Drizzle the sauce over, top with Spring Onion and ‘Shichimi’ and enjoy.
Sprinkle with Self-Raising Flour, Starch Flour and Salt and mix well to coat all pieces with the flour. It took so long because Tempura Donburi or Ten Don in short is what I usually eat at restaurants and not something I cook often. Tempura is quite a difficult dish to make the exact same as restaurants because the tempura is hard to make that crispy. So when I eat out at a Japanese restaurant, I usually order Tempura Donburi. It is more difficult to maintain a steady temperature and produce consistent tempura if you don't have a thermometer, but it can be done.
